I’m available for events!
I have many years of experience of public speaking and working with young people. I was the education officer for the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign. I ran workshops with young people in schools and scout troops in Ireland and East Timor as well as talks for grown ups in churches, community centres etc. I retrained and worked with vulnerable young people and families in Ireland. I’ve been a scout leader for the last ten years and I have two teenagers of my own.
Small group workshop – max. 20 young people
First, an engaging introduction to the book and the concept of time loops. Second, I lead the group in imagining time loops in their own lives (what would they do? What would they miss?) while connecting this to how young people get stuck in their lives and how they can overcome this.
Large group event – 20+ young people
Structured in the form of a 45 minute presentation followed by 15 minutes for questions, I use readings from my novel as a launchpad to explore ideas like: loops in books, cinema and science; the writing loop i.e. how writers rewrite over and over until a book is ready; how we can all get stuck in life and how we can overcome it; and the depiction of Dublin in my book (if it’s a Dublin audience).
Small group writing workshop – max. 20 young people
I guide them through my book’s journey from initial concept to final published book. Using activities, I teach them the core concepts in storytelling. Depending on engagement and number of participants, I help them develop their individual story ideas and / or work individually or in small groups to help them develop their own time loop stories.

- These events are suitable for schools or libraries or festivals and can be tailored to shorter or longer if necessary.
- Give Me ‘til Midnight is a YA novel with 16 year old protagonists. With no violence or sexual content whatsoever and minimal swearing, the book is suitable for all secondary school students.
- Creative and interactive, my events engage young people with my book’s concept (time loops) and theme (being stuck in your life and how to overcome this).
- Each workshop is approximately forty five minutes plus time for questions if appropriate. All events are supported by Powerpoint presentations while the smaller group events use whiteboards / flipcharts for activities. All events can be accompanied by book sales and and signing as appropriate.
- I’m open to virtual events such as zoom interviews and email interviews.
